Cisco Security Manager 3.0 is recommended training for customers who are currently attempting to implement the Cisco Security Manager 3.0 software or customers who are looking at migrating from the old CiscoWorks VMS 2.3 software to Cisco Security Manager 3.0. Cisco Security Manager 3.0 is designed to provide Security management for Cisco devices, included firewalls, Network IPS, VPN Management, and security monitoring. For customers seeking a central point of control for all network security management Cisco Security Manager 3.0 is the training that is essential to develop and deploy the application within their corporation.
 

Material Covered:

 
  • • Firewall Management – policy rules and distribution, reducing errors and allowing central monitoring
    • VPN Management – provides functions for the setup and maintenance of large deployments of VPN connections and Cisco IOS Firewalls and Cisco ASA/PIX devices.
    • Security Monitoring – Provides integrated monitoring to help administrators achieve a comprehensive view of security across the network, with even correlation to detect threats
    • Access-list – Standardize access-list deployment and rule conflict negotiation.
    • ACS integration – Integration with Cisco ACS software provides a central point of authentication and authorization for Cisco Security Manager functions.
    • IPS Management – Integration of the MARS product suite into the central console.

    Day One: Overview & Technical Training – 7 hours

    • General overview of CSMS. 90 min
    • Architecture and Installation – server sizing, Java caveats, device communication (ssl) – 30 min
    • Device import, device bootstrapping – 60 min
    • Policy Objects, NAT – 30 min
    • Lab Policy Object and NAT 30 min
    • Firewall Rule table / analysis / query - 30 min
    • Lab Firewall - 45 min
    • Activity Validation and deployment lecture 15 minutes
    • ASA virtual contexts 15 min
    • Interface Roles 30 minutes
    • Lab: IOS and ASA context and Interface roles - 60 min

    Day Two: Technical Training – 6 hours

    • Firewall Policy Management and Inheritance - 40 min
    • Lab: Firewall Policy and inheritance 60 min
    • VPN – 90 min
    • Lab: VPN – 60 min
    • IOS Platform (Routing, QoS, mcast) – 30 min
    • PIX Platform (Routing, QoS, mcast ) – 30 min
    • Lab: ACS
    • ACS 40 min
    • AUS, CNS – 30 min
